FAMILY PLANNING TO MARK NATIONAL HIV TESTING DAY WITH FREE CONFIDENTIAL RAPID HIV TESTING AND FREE EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION JUNE 22-26
Are you positive you’re negative? Family Planning of South Central New York, Inc. will mark National HIV Testing Day by offering free confidential rapid HIV testing and counseling for the entire week, from June 22 through June 26 at all five of their health centers during regular business hours.
· 117 Hawley Street, Binghamton
· 5 Cortland Street, Norwich
· 37 Dietz Street, Oneonta
· 37 Pleasant Street, Sidney
· 130 North Street, Walton
The rapid HIV test is a painless finger prick for a drop of blood. Results are ready in 20 minutes. Patients will receive counseling on how to identify and reduce their risk of HIV infection.
People are also welcome to pick up a free dose of Emergency Contraception, also known as the “morning after pill.”
Debra Marcus, Chief Executive Officer at Family Planning, remarked that Family Planning’s free HIV testing week compliments NY State Governor Cuomo’s “Blueprint to End the HIV/AIDS epidemic”, which was created earlier this year. “We are extremely supportive of Governor Cuomo’s initiative to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2020, and we’re doing our part to help people locally get tested, know their status, and if necessary get the treatment they need”.
