Family Planning Celebrates 75th Anniversary
Binghamton, October 1, 2015: Family Planning of South Central New York celebrated 75 years of providing reproductive health care and education to tens of thousands of women and men in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego Counties at an anniversary dinner at Terra Cotta in Binghamton, NY.
“For 75 years we have provided professional, affordable, and nonjudgmental health care and education to tens of thousands of women and men”, said Family Planning CEO Debra Marcus. “We’re proud of our 75 year history of serving the community. We focus on prevention, on wellness, on empowerment, and we give people the tools they need to stay healthy and make wise decisions”.
Several women were honored at the event for their many contributions to Family Planning. Anne Taft was the recipient of Family Planning’s “Courage Award” for her long and generous support of Family Planning. Norma Lee Havens and Virginia Marr were honored as “Founding Mothers” whose championing of reproductive health care and justice were instrumental in the growth and success of Family Planning.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Senator Chuck Schumer, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, Governor Andrew Cuomo, Assemblyman Clifford Crouch, Binghamton Mayor Rich David, and other elected officials wrote proclamations recognizing Family Planning and the essential health care programs they provide.
“We are grateful to our many supporters for their contributions to Family Planning and we are also thankful to our many local elected officials who value the good work we do in the community”, said Marcus.
