Pro-Choice

We will always be proudly pro-choice and a tireless advocate for reproductive rights.

We are committed to preserving access to safe, legal abortion care. We are committed to educating our patients about all of their reproductive options. And we are committed to advocating for laws that uphold reproductive freedom here in south central New York — and beyond.

On June 24, 2022, in response to the Supreme Court decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Center, we issued the following statement:

There is nothing more personal than bodily autonomy. There is nothing more personal than the decision whether to continue a pregnancy. We are devastated by the Supreme Court’s radical decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. It is contrary to what the overwhelming majority of Americans want and have relied on for 50 years. Today, we affirm that abortion is health care and that abortion is a fundamental right. This reprehensible decision risks the life and health of so many. But it is marginalized people who will suffer the most – low-income women, women of color, young women, rural women, women with disabilities, women for whom English is not their first language, and trans people. 26 states are certain or likely to ban abortion. 13 of those have trigger laws set to automatically ban abortion in their state: four states have already done so today. In New York State, the 2019 Reproductive Health Act protects the right to abortion. But, access to critical medical care should not depend on where a person lives. Right now, we are outraged. We remain committed to access to affordable, compassionate medical care and comprehensive sexuality education for all, regardless of income, insurance coverage, immigration status, or zip code. We must all stand up and make our voices heard. The fight is not over.

We do not provide abortions. In fact, we have never provided abortion care during our more than 80 years of serving south central New York.

Why? Because, as a small and local nonprofit organization we have limited resources, and we do not want to duplicate services already available here in our community.

All of our local medical centers are located within one hour or less of excellent, reputable providers. Our largest medical center, in Binghamton, is only 7 miles from a well-established, well-respected abortion care provider.
