2020 Education Sessions: The Kinship Care Program

The Kinship Care Program
The Kinship Care Program helps families who are raising someone else’s child. Kinship caregivers can be any family member, a sibling, aunt, uncle, grandparent, great grandparent, cousin, a family friend, a neighbor, someone from church, a teacher or a coach. We have run this program for 15 years and every year we work with at least 150 new kinship families. The program advocate and peer mentors help the family through the process of applying for cash assistance, paperwork for legal aspects, enrolling children in school and sorting through all the complicated issues that may arise. We also provide support groups.
